Nvidia GPU not detected Windows 10
I Fixed It !!!
All it took was a bad habbit and some luck. Now it works and i have 3 GTX 1060's mining away on an old HP G200.
All you need is patience
I had problems getting GPU's to show up on my PC. I tried everything i could find on google and elsewhere to no avail. As anyone who has tried this will know you cannot install nvidia drivers until the machine detects the GPU in the first place.
I found so many bogus articles telling me to do this so i knew they had never actually tried it.
Anyway having spent a few hours a day for 3 days i was about to give up when i noticed the running light on my PC was doing something. I was sat there rolling a smoke at the time so i just left it. Suddenly my screen refreshed and WHOOPEEEEE !!! There was the GPU in my device manager.
The sneaky GPU has to install some sort of driver first and it takes a few minutes for this to happen.
I instantly ran the nvidia installer and it detected the GPU, loaded the driver and away it went.
Here's What I Did
Step 1 : SHUT DOWN, not Restart the PC
Step 2 : Turn on the PC with the riser card inserted in the PCIE slot with no power to the riser or the GPU.
Step 3 : Once the PC had booted up i plugged in the power to the riser and gpu. I got the little ding dong noise from windows to say something had happened but when i checked device manager nothing showed up. Don't worry if the fans go beserk. They reset at the next step.
Step 4 : This time RESTART the computer for a full reset. After the initial load up my blue light that shows the PC was doing something continued to run. This is when i left it for a few minutes. After 3 - 4 minutes my screen refreshed itself and the GPU showed up in my device manager.
Step 5 : Run the nvidia installer. Restart your PC when it's done and you should be good to go.
I can't guarantee this will work for everyone but it has worked for me on 2 occaisions so good luck with yours.
Thanks for the visit today.
